 | 1. Report lost or stolen plastic cards to the issuer immediately.
2. Sign your new cards -- before someone else does!
3. Memorize your Social Security number and passwords -- don't carry them around with you. Also,
don't use your date of birth or your address/phone number as your password.
4. Don't ever leave receipts behind -- at ATMs, on counters at the bank
or credit union, or at gasoline pumps
5. Check the expiration dates on plastic cards and contact the issuer if you don't get a replacement
before they expire. Ditto for monthly financial statements and bills.
6. Match credit card receipts against monthly bills and check statements for accuracy.
7. Don't mail anything from home that contains account numbers, SSNs, or any
other personal identifying information.
8. Shred unwanted documents that contain personal information.
9. Review your consumer credit reports at least annually.
10. NEVER give personal information over the phone or the Internet unless you initiated the contact!!
